The Bon Homme Richard (CV-31/CVA-31) was an aircraft carrier of the Essex-class in the United States Navy. Although, the fight it was involved in was during World War II and the Vietnam War where it gained several battle stars. The ship was originally christened after pen name of Benjamin Franklin and latter rechristened from Bonhomme Richard to Bon Homme Richard to avoid confusion with an 18th-century vessel of the same name.
