Kaveri Devi, often referred to as the goddess Kaveri, is the presiding deity of the Kaveri River, one of the most sacred rivers in southern India. She is revered as a river goddess  and is considered a form of Parvati, the consort of Lord Shiva. The Kaveri River originates from Talakaveri in the Western Ghats of Karnataka and flows through the states of Karnataka and Tamil Nadu, nourishing the lands and sustaining life along its course.

Kaveri is worshipped as a life-giving force, providing water for drinking, agriculture, and other needs. Numerous temples are dedicated to her along the riverbanks, where rituals and prayers are performed to seek her blessings. The river is also central to various myths and legends, with the most famous being the story of Sage Agastya and Kaveri's descent to earth. Festivals like the Kaveri Sankramana are celebrated with great devotion, honoring her as a motherly figure who sustains and nurtures life.
